EghtesadOnline: Oil production at joint oil fields in West Karoun region bordering Iraq has been reduced by 6% as a precautionary measure to prevent environmental damage in the area, the managing director of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company said.
EghtesadOnline: In line with the Energy Ministry's push to boost output from joint hydrocarbon reservoirs, Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) is making efforts to ramp up crude production from the West Karoun oil block at the Iran-Iraq border, which is lagging behind schedule, PEDEC chief executive said.
EghtesadOnline: West Karoun covers a quite large area of land in the western bank of Karoun River as far away as the Iran-Iraq border. West Karoun is part of oil-rich Khuzestan Province, but in the 1980s and the following two decades it was impossible to operate oil exploration and production projects due to the imposed war and landmines that had not been cleared.
