Iran rice imports

  • EghtesadOnline: Rice imports from India and Pakistan accounted for 97% of Iran’s total rice purchases, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21-May 21), data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show.

  • EghtesadOnline: Close to 178,000 tons of rice worth more than $183.5 million were imported into Iran during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21-May 21), registering a 22.1% and 9.1% decline in weight and value respectively compared with the similar period of last year.

  • EghtesadOnline: The resumption of rice imports by Iran could give a fillip to India’s basmati shipments that have risen by about a fourth in rupee terms in the first eight months of the current fiscal year (started March 21, 2017), the Indian newspaper Hindu Business Line reported.
