EghtesadOnline: The University of Tehran is set to hold a three-day startup weekend ‘UT Let’s Start’ from October 11 to 13.
According to the university website, the event will be held at the Faculty of Entrepreneurship located on UT’s campus in central Tehran.
The event is sponsored by the University of Tehran and the Elite Iranian Entrepreneurs Foundation.
During the 54-hour event, groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, and graphic artists will pitch ideas for new startup companies, form teams around those ideas, and work to develop a working prototype, demo, or presentation, Financial Tribune reported.
The event aims to bring together tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs. One of the major topics to be discussed at the event will be tourism and participants will meet with professionals in the field.
On the first day of the event entrepreneurs will showcase a rough sketch of their business plans and ideas. Special teams will be formed for studying the best proposals.
The teams will build on the initial idea during the second day. Mentors present will guide the novices through the process.
Finally, teams will present their progress to a panel of seven professionals and university teachers and the panel will provide the teams with further guidance on their projects.
The event is seen as opportunity for business networking, entrepreneurs and technology enthusiasts who will get to know local startup incubators, investment organizations and business consultancies.
To attend the event those interested should pay 2.5 million rials ($64), and enroll via the event’s page on evand.com, a local website that lists workshops and educational courses.
