EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran is resolved to enhance ties with Indonesia.
He made the remarks in a meeting with top-ranking Indonesian delegation, ILNA reported.
The president said that Iran is ready to provide Indonesia with energy needs.
Rouhani said that the visit to Tehran by his Indonesian counterpart marks a turning point in expansion of relations between the two countries.
Efforts to boost banking relations, agreement on preferential tariffs and direct trade will be to the benefit of both nations, Rouhani said.
The president also expressed the willingness of Iranian companies for partnership in Indonesia's energy, gas and water sectors and to render technical and engineering services to Indonesia.
Underlining the need for further cooperation of Tehran and Jakarta on regional and international issues, Rouhani said that Iran and Indonesia can cooperate on the Palestinian issue, restoring peace and security in Syria, Iraq and Yemen and dispatch humanitarian supplies to the regions suffering from the humanitarian crises.
He voiced concern about the sad condition of Muslim minority in Myanmar and expressed hope that Iran and Indonesia can take joint steps to help resolve the issue.
The Indonesian president, for his part, said that Iran nuclear deal reached with world powers last year has paved the way for promotion of trade relations and joint venture investment between Iran and Indonesia.
Joko Widodo welcomed Iran's offer for more active presence of Iranian companies in Indonesian projects, particularly building a refinery at 5-million-dollar cost and a 5,000-MW power plant.
