EghtesadOnline: The Foreign Minister of Iraq, Fuad Hussein announced that the implementing Iran-Iraq security agreement will be completed in two days.
He made the remarks in a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian held in Tehran on Wednesday.
During the joint press conference, Fuad Hussein said, “The separatist terrorists in the Kurdistan region will be transferred to the refugee camps under the supervision of the United Nations”.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, for his part, said, “Today, we had important negotiations about the implementation of Iran-Iraq security agreement”.
“Experience has showed that Iran is very serious about maintaining its national security and we satisfy regarding the efforts of the Iraqi side in disarming the terrorist groups. Iraqi foreign minister has announced good news in this regard and the next steps would be taken within the following days according to the security deal,” he added.
“Giving even one hour to the terrorists is detrimental to the security of Iraq, Iran, and the Iraqi Kurdistan region,” the Iranian foreign minister emphasized.
“Iran and Iraq are two neighboring countries in the West Asia region and currently, we are witnessing significant progress in all aspects of relations between the two countries,” Amir-Abdollahian went on to say.
He also pointed to the start of construction of the Basra-Shalamcheh railway, saying, “This agreement can help the expansion of relations between Iran and Iraq in various fields, including the facilitation of the travel of the two countries’ citizens”.
“During today’s meeting, we also discussed regional and international issues. High-ranking Iraqi officials and Fuad Hussein always play an important and constructive role in the issue of helping the talks to lift the US unilateral and illegal sanctions against Iran and we are grateful for the efforts of the Iraqi government,” the Iranian top diplomat noted.
Regarding the environmental issues, Amir-Abdollahian called for resolving the issue of dust storms and dredging Shatt Al Arab as soon as possible.
Fuad Hussein, for his part, emphasized, “The constitution of Iraq does not allow the country's soil to be used to attack other countries. So, security cooperation between Iraq and Iran is basically based on the constitution and as it mentioned, Baghdad is committed to this roadmap and is trying to reach the final goal”.
“The goal is to disarm the terrorist groups on the border between Iran and Iraq. They will be transferred to a number of refugee camps, and this action will take place under the supervision of the United Nations and the High Commissioner for Refugees,” he went on to say.
