EghtesadOnline: A coalition of eight reformist parties has issued a list of candidates for the fast-approaching parliamentary election scheduled for Feb. 21.
The list, dubbed "Coalition for Iran," was published on Saturday and it includes prominent parties from the reformist camp such as the Democracy Party, the Islamic Labor Party and the Worker House, IRNA reported.
Among the leading figures in the list are Majid Ansari, former vice president for parliamentary affairs and a member of the Association of Combatant Clerics, Mostafa Kavakebian, leader of the Democracy Party and Alireza Mahjoub, secretary-general of the Worker House, according to Financial Tribune.
Following the mass disqualification of reformist hopefuls by the electoral watchdog Guardians Council, Mahmoud Sadeqi, a member of the Reformists' Council for Policymaking, said an umbrella body will not issue a list for the 11th round of parliamentary elections, but allowed the numerous parties within the grouping to form their own coalitions as they please.
Over 1,400 nominees from the Tehran constituency will compete for 30 seats in Friday's election.
