EghtesadOnline: A Chinese fishing trawler smuggling 50 tons of lanternfish (or myctophids) worth 20 billion rials ($148,698) was seized in the southeastern port of Jask, Hormozgan Province, on the Makran Coast.

According to Abdollah Lashkari, a naval officer, 16 people have been arrested in connection with the incident, Financial Tribune reported.

“Combating maritime trespassing, i.e. violation of our territorial waters, by fishermen of other countries is key to boosting production and employment in border regions. Hormozgan Naval Force will take strict action against violations of Iran's maritime boundary,” he was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.
