EghtesadOnline: Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has traveled to Biarritz, France, on Saturday to meet his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit held at the Atlantic seaside resort.
After reports emerged that an Iranian flight that took off from Tehran at 10:18 a.m. (local time) had landed in Biarritz, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi confirmed on Twitter that Zarif was on that flight.
According to Mousavi, “French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has invited his Iranian counterpart.”
He wrote that Zarif will follow up earlier negotiations between Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron over ways to preserve the historic Iran nuclear deal, according to Financial Tribune.
Mousavi stressed that “Zarif will not meet the US delegation”.
Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal was one of the main topics of discussion at the G7 Summit.
