EghtesadOnline: Oman's Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi is to visit Tehran on Saturday to discuss bilateral ties, as well as regional and international issues with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The mission is within the framework of the two countries’ regular consultations on regional developments, IRNA reported.

Bin Alawi had earlier met Zarif in May and told reporters afterwards that his country was striving to ease tensions in the current crisis between the United States and Iran.

"The danger of war ... could harm the entire world," he said at the time, according to Financial Tribune.

The situation between Tehran and Washington deteriorated since US President Donald Trump unilaterally pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposed sanctions on the country.

The friction has heightened in recent months, raising risks of a military confrontation and prompting other countries to step in to help resolve the issue.
