EghtesadOnline: Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Friday condemned terror attack in the Sinai region of Egypt and cautioned the world about any concession towards terrorist elements.

He offered his condolences to the bereaved families of victims, adding that escaped terrorists who are fleeing the war after Daesh (ISIS) defeats in Iraq and Syria are a serious danger to the region and the world security, IRNA reported.

Any type of appeasement with terrorists or manipulation of them will result in new wave of blind terrorism across the world, the official added.

According to Egyptian media, the country’s Armed Forces announced on Friday that 26 soldiers were killed and wounded in an attack on security checkpoints near the North Sinai town of Rafah.

According to the statement, Egyptian security forces “successfully foiled” a number of terrorist assaults on checkpoints south of Rafah, killing up to 40 terrorists.

The statement added that the militants used car bombs and heavy weaponry in their attacks, killing or injuring 26 soldiers.
