EghtesdaOnline: First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri condemned recent cruise missile attacks by the US on Syria’s strategic airbase, and said that such behavior will certainly result in strengthening extremism.

“Such measures will pave the way for reinforcing extremism in the region,” Jahangiri said in a meeting with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén in Tehran on Saturday.

According to IRNA, the first vice-president, meantime, pointed to the status quo of Iran-Hungary relations, and said, “The expansion of relations with the European States, Hungary in particular, is of paramount importance in Iran’s foreign diplomacy field and age-old relations between the two countries has added to the need for mutual cooperation between the two countries.”

Jahangiri said that Iran is interested to broaden its relations with the EU member-states, Hungary in particular, in the domains of economy, politics and culture.

“After the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) there was a need for the creation of a political will to enhance relations that came true after the visit by Hungarian Prime Viktor Orban to Iran,” he added.

The Hungarian deputy prime minister, for his part, pointed to the signing of cooperation pacts between Iran and Hungary, and said, “A banking delegation will visit Iran for concluding agreements in the near future.”
