EghtesadOnline: Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday met with adviser to the Pakistani prime minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in Tehran.
In a meeting with Iranian foreign minister, Sartaj Aziz expressed pleasure over his renewed visit to Tehran and meeting with Zarif as well as other Iranian high-ranking officials.
According to ISNA, he also appreciated Iran for expressing solidarity over recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan which occurred on Tuesday.
“Pakistan has adopted anti-terror measures to counter terrorist attacks,” Sartaj Aziz said, calling for enhanced regional cooperation for countering acts of terror referring to latest terrorist attacks in his country.
At least six people were killed and more than 20 others injured as a local court in the northwestern city of Charsadda was hit by suicide attacks.
Expressing Islamabad’s support to accelerate mutual cooperation in the economic projects, the Pakistani official said that the country is trying to give an impetus to the implementation of the projects.
Meanwhile, Zarif referred to the recent terror acts in the country which killed and injured a large number of innocent civilians and condemned terrorist acts.
He also expressed sympathy with the Pakistani nation and government over the deadly attack.
Pointing to Tehran-Islamabad good political ties as well as large number of economic deals in various fields including transfer of electricity, energy, banking affairs, customs cooperation and border exchanges, Zarif hoped that further efforts would be made to accelerate implementation of the projects so that the two countries would witness further development of economic relations, which will benefit both nations and region.
They also discussed regional developments such as the situation in Afghanistan and promoting trilateral ties between Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
