EghtesadOnline: Over 50,000 Peshmarga forces are ready to take part in the liberation operation of the city of Mosul, an informed source in Iraqi Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs said on Sunday.
According to the latest reports by IRNA correspondents from north of Iraq, the terrorist group of Daesh is setting fire on Mosul oil wells to sabotage air force operation while Kurd commanders say about 50,000 Peshmerga fighters are already ready to take part in the combat.
However, the informed sources told IRNA, based on an earlier agreement with the Iraqi government, the Peshmerga forces are not to enter the city of Mosul, the capital of the province of Nineveh some 400 kms north of Baghdad.
The high-ranking Kurd official who was talking to IRNA on the condition of anonymity further said that the Peshmerga fighters will approach the city from five major routes.
The President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani stressed on Saturday that all preparations were in place for retaking Mosul from the terrorist organization Daesh.
'I announce that all preparations to retake Mosul have been completed. An agreement has been made between the Iraqi army and peshmerga forces in this context,' said Barzani on the official website of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
'There is a strong solidarity between Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army,' he added.
He further hoped that the Mosul residents will be free from savage Daesh terrorists soon.
Moreover, the Governor of Khabat region in west of Erbil province also told IRNA that smoke has been rising to sky in the past two days in the region due to the terrorist Daesh group’s savage act of setting ablaze another 11 oil fields to get protection from air force attacks.
