Zarif made the appeal to the international community in continuation of his contacts and consultations on deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria.
According to IRNA, the Iranian foreign minister expressed deep concern about shortage of emergency medical supplies in Syria.
Zarif appealed to the international community to put an end to the humanitarian crisis in Syria by declaring an immediate ceasefire and find out political and comprehensive settlement for the Syrian crisis.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in his second telephone contact in the past 48 hours exchanged views with Zarif on the latest Syrian developments.
Meanwhile, European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Zarif made consultations about the latest developments in the region, especially Syria.
In these conversations, Zarif explained Iran's basic and principled stances in fight against terrorism and the terrorist groups.
He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is calling on the international community to declare an immediate ceasefire to stem bloodshed and humanitarian plight and find out a comprehensive and political settlement for the Syrian crisis.
