EghtesadOnline: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a telephone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Monday evening, congratulated him for the successful holding of the NAM Summit on Sep. 17 and 18, and expressed hope that during the presidency of Venezuela, NAM would see further activity and cooperation among member states in international and regional issues.

According to ILNA, President Rouhani thanked Venezuela for its stance in Algeria’s meeting that supported Iran’s right to keep its share of the oil market in order to recover its pre-sanctions level of production, adding “it is imperative for all to make efforts so that the expert committee would make decisions to positively affect the raise of oil prices in the upcoming November’s OPEC meeting.”

“In order to raise and stabilize oil prices on international scene, there also needs to be serious negotiations among non-OPEC countries and at the same time, good decisions need to be taken in expert meetings in regard to oil export quota of each country,” Rouhani stressed.

Rouhani further highlighted the significance of Tehran-Caracas expansion of ties, and expressed hope that the executive bodies in both countries would make every effort for a rapid and complete implementation of bilateral agreements.

President Maduro, for his part, expressed hope that Iran-Venezuela’s Joint Economic Commission’s meeting would resolve existing obstacles and facilitate the implementation process of various projects between the two countries.

“Iran and Venezuela have common stances on many regional and international issues, particularly in regard to OPEC, and this coordination is our key to success,” he said.

The Venezuelan president stressed the need for the raise of oil prices in international markets, adding “considering the positive outcome of the Algiers’s meeting, we could be hopeful that oil market would soon stabilize.”

“Negotiations and cooperation with non-OPEC countries for a joint coordination to raise and stabilize oil prices will continue,” he added.
