EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani referred to expanding relations with African countries as Iran’s basic foreign policy.

In a meeting with the visiting Kenyan Parliament Speaker Justin Muturi here on Sunday, he said Tehran welcomed growing relations with Nairobi especially in economic areas.

He termed Kenya as a friend of Iran and said the situation was ripe now in the post-JCPOA era for further deepening of ties, reports IRNA.

The President also voiced Iran’s readiness to help projects in Kenya in power, roads, dams and energy sectors.

He encouraged the Kenyan government to facilitate presence of the Iranian private sector companies there by offering facilities.

President Rouhani said promoting relations between the two countries in tourism, parliamentary exchanges and technological and educational areas was a must.

He also stressed need for uprooting terrorism as a global problem.

Meanwhile, the Kenyan official said the two nations could cooperate in regional and international areas.
