EghtesadOnline: Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Tuesday evening expressed concern over continuation of Turkey military operation in Syria.

Qassemi underlined the need for respecting Syria's sovereignty.

Despite the fact that fighting terrorism and trying to establish security in the region is an important principle sought by peace-loving nations of the region, it should not justify violation of countries’ sovereignty, ILNA quoted him as saying.

The official said that adopting approaches that defy the political authority of a county’s central government is not acceptable.

Continuation of presence of Turkey on the Syrian soil will lead to further complication of the situation, he added.

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said that the spread of conflict in north of Syria will lead to the killing of more innocent people.

The Turkish Army should stop military action in the region immediately, Qassemi said.

On August 24, Turkish Special Forces, backed by tanks and jet fighters launched an offensive against Kurdish elements in northern Syria.

The government in Damascus condemned the intervention as a breach of its sovereignty.
