EghtesadOnline: Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Hamid-Reza Araghi said that the country would start the first phase of exporting gas to Iraq from late August.

According to ISNA, the move comes for providing the required gas for Iraqi power plants.

The gas would be first pumped to Baghdad Power Plant in a bid to meet needs of the facility, he said.

Araghi said that Iran would begin the second phase of pumping gas to Iraq to provide gas for Basra Power Plant by coming months.

According to Araghi, Iran would initially export 7 million cubic meters of gas to Iraq daily, and it would be gradually increased to 70 million cubic meters.
