EghtesadOnline: The number of flights to and from Turkey has decreased by 95% since the end of Norouz (Iranian New Year) holidays (April 2).
One of the main reasons behind this significant decline is the cancellation of Iranian travel tours to the neighboring country, according to the spokesperson of Islamic Republic of Iran Civil Aviation Organization.
"The decline in the number of flights between Turkey and Iran was agreed upon by the two sides [following the recent increase in the rate of Covid-19 infections]," Mohammad Hassan Zibakhsh was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Two weeks ago, after an increase in Turkey's Covid-19 cases, all traveling tours to this country were cancelled by Iran.
"As per the decision of the National Coronavirus Headquarters and the Interior Ministry, two-way flights will only be offered to passengers who intend to travel to Turkey for urgent reasons,” Maqsoud Asadi-Samani, secretary of the Association of Iranian Airlines, was quoted as saying by IRNA on April 6.
A negative PCR test is required before/after the flights for passengers older than 8 years.
