EghtesadOnline: Khouzestan Steel Company exported 877,613 tons of slab, bloom and billet during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (March. 20-Oct. 21) to top the list of Iranian steel exporters.
The volume of export is 19% lower compared with the similar period of last year.
According to data released by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, KSC’s exports during the seventh month of the year (Sept. 22-Oct. 21) stood at 205,429 tons, up 150% year-on-year.
KSC exported a record high of 2.76 million tons last fiscal year (March 2017-18), marking a growth of 34% YOY.
Esfahan Steel Company’s exports totaled 550,906 tons during the seven months under review to register a 19% year-on-year decline.
The company’s exports during the month under review went down by 21% to 90,455 tons.
Mobarakeh Steel Company's shipments abroad amounted to 479,804 tons for the seven-month period, down 46% YOY. MSC’s exports in the seventh month, however, experienced a 48% increase to 195,742 tons.
South Kaveh Steel Company took the next spot with 333,900 tons of billet exports to post a 28% YOY fall. The mill recorded an 11% decline in monthly exports, with 50,500 tons.
Chadormalu Iron Ore Processing was next with 332.299 tons of billet exports, nearly 62,726 tons of which were shipped during the seventh month of the current fiscal year.
IMIDRO data show a 157% increase in company's exports in the first seven months of the year and a 1,172% jump in the seventh month's shipments.
Saba Foolad registered the highest jump among major steel exporters, during the first seven months of the current fiscal year. The mill exported 164,356 tons, 223% higher than the same period of last year.
The data used in this report are based on preliminary statistics provided by IMIDRO on Iran's large-scale producers and lacks details on most private producers' shipments.
A more detailed report is usually published by Iran Steel Producers Association later.
The mills under IMIDRO survey collectively exported 3.20 million tons of semi-finished and finished steel products during the seven months to Oct. 21 to register a 21% decline compared with the same period of last year. This is while monthly figures indicate a 42% year-on-year rise in exports.
They shipped 799,256 tons of steel during the month to Oct. 21.
A surge in domestic demand as well as price controlling policies employed by the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade are among key causes behind the fall in major steel producers' exports.
IMIDRO data also show Mobarakeh Steel Company produced 5.81 million tons of semi-finished steel products during the seven months under review.
The mill's semi-finished output was 6% higher than the first seven months of the previous fiscal year.
The company’s output during the seventh month of the current fiscal year (Sept. 22-Oct. 21) increased by 10% to reach 742,476 tons.
MSC and its subsidiary Saba Steel produced 4.81 million tons of finished steel during the seven months under review. As a result, the company maintained its position as the largest Iranian steelmaker.
Located in southwestern Isfahan, Mobarakeh Steel Company is the biggest steel producer in Iran and the Middle East and North Africa region.
In terms of semis production, MSC was followed by Khuzestan Steel Company with 2.22 million tons of output during the seven months. The number indicates a growth of 4% compared with the same period of last year.
KSC’s semi-finished output increased by 1% in the seventh month of the year to 299,636 tons.
Esfahan Steel Company came next with 1.362 million tons of bloom output during the seven months, marking a decline of 2% year-on-year. The company's monthly output of semis gained 6% to 192,267 tons.
South Kaveh Steel Company with 683,875 tons (unchanged compared with the previous year's figures), Khorasan Steel Company with 580,118 tons (down 11% YOY) and Chadormalu Steel Company with 557,835 tons (down 2% YOY) were other main producers of semi-finished steel products during the seven months to Oct. 21.
South Kaveh Steel Company ranked fourth in terms of monthly semi-output production during the month to Oct. 21. The company’s output stood at 124,258 tons during the one-month period, up 34%. Khorasan Steel Company followed with 89,067 tons of semis output during the month under review, marking a 5% increase YOY.
The heavyweight Iranian steel mills under the IMIDRO study collectively produced 13.16 million tons of semi-finished products in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, recording an 8% growth year-on-year.
A total of 1.92 million tons of semi-finished steel were produced by these mills during the seventh month of the fiscal year.
In terms of production of finished products, MSC was followed by ESCO with 1.326 tons (up 1% YOY) and Khorasan Steel Company with 299,039 tons (down 17% YOY).
Other key producers of finished products were Bonab Sheet Company, Ahvaz Rolling and Pipe Manufacturing Company, Azarbaijan Steel Company, Sirjan Steel Company and INSIG.
A total of 8.43 million tons of finished steel products, including hot- and cold-rolled coils, rebar, beams, pipes, wide and galvanized sheets, were produced by the heavyweights during the first seven months of the fiscal year, up 4% YOY.
Their production of finished steel products stood at 1.173 million tons in the seventh fiscal month to register a 9% growth YOY.
