Detergents to See 30-40% Price Hike
EghtesadOnline: Detergent prices will increase by 30-40% within the next eight to 10 days, the head of Detergent Industry Union said on Saturday.
“As per the decisions of the union, which are based on the Market Regulation Headquarters’ stipulations, a 40% price increase will be imposed on washing machine powder, dishwashing liquid, soap bars and liquid soaps, toothpastes and glass cleaners, while other detergent products and toiletries will experience a 30% rise in prices,” Bakhtiar Alambeigi was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.
The official said that this price hike is due to the recent hike in the rates of foreign currencies against the rial.
“State-owned petrochemical plants have increased the prices of raw materials required for detergent production, including fatty alcohols and polyethylene,” he added.
Alambeigi noted that different types of sanitizers have been exempted from this price hike.
