EghtesadOnline: Penalty for employers hiring illegal foreign workers amid the coronavirus outbreak and closure of workshops has been set at 3.05 million rials ($19.6) per day, an official with the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare said.

“The fine is five times more than the daily wage of 611,809 rials [$3.9] set for the current Iranian year [2020-21],” Mohsen Ebrahimi was also quoted as saying by IRNA.  

According to Financial Tribune, the current year’s minimum wage increased to 18.34 million rials ($118.32) per month, including a monthly coupon of 4 million rials ($25) and a daily wage of 611,809 rials. Last year’s minimum wage was 15.17 million rials ($97.87) per month. 

This year’s severance pay base is set at 17.5 million rials ($112) and housing allowance at 1 million rials ($6.45). For each child under 18 years, workers will receive 1.83 million rials ($11). 

Workers of other pay levels (above the minimum) will see a rise of 15%, plus a monthly fixed sum of 910,000 rials ($5.8).
