Nonetheless, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, truckers are still able to park at the border crossings of Astara and Bileh Savar, and transship their goods to Azerbaijan as well as to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and Eurasia.

Commercial exchanges with Azerbaijan via Astara railroad are underway, IRNA reported.

According to Financial Tribune, a total of 120,068 tons of goods worth $36.73 million were exported via Astara railroad in the northern Gilan Province in the last Iranian year (March 2019-20).

According to a Rasoul Omidi, local official, the exports mainly included home appliances, ceramic products, clinker and cement, stones and fruit, ILNA reported.

A total of 227,158 tons of goods worth over $70.06 million, including MDF boards and grains, were imported through Astara railroad during the same period.
