Frost Inflicts Losses Worth $100m on Tehran Agriculture
EghtesadOnline: Frost has inflicted losses amounting to 11 trillion rials ($107 million) on Tehran Province’s agriculture sector during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Nov. 21).
According to Karim Zolfaqari, the head of Tehran’s Agricultural Jihad Organization, the damage affected 52,000 farmers and about 187,000 hectares of farmland, IRNA reported.
Mostafa Jalili, the deputy head Tehran Agricultural Jihad Organization for planning and economic affairs, said 80% of the losses were the result of snow and cold snap that set in during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21-April 20), according to Financial Tribune.
