EghtesadOnline: A joint meeting for surveying commercial opportunities between Iran and Basra was held in the southern Iraqi province on Sunday and Monday in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi and Basra’s Governor General Asaad Al Eidani.
According to Masjedi, the meeting was organized with the aim of familiarizing businesspeople from the two sides.
Negotiations were held for cooperation in a wide range of fields, including housing, industry, agriculture, communications technology, healthcare and electricity, IRNA reported.
Al Eidani noted that officials in Basra are looking to expand economic cooperation with neighboring countries, Iran in particular, according to Financial Tribune.
Some 120 Iranian businesspeople from the country’s private sector, together with officials from the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, the Foreign Ministry and the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration attended the event.
