EghtesadOnline: Iran’s iron ore pellet output reached 21.24 million tons over the seven months since the beginning of the current year (March 21), which indicates a 36% increase compared to the same period of last year, the Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade reported.

Production by the Gol-e-Gohar Iron Ore Mine, located 55 kilometers from the south-central city of Sirjan, increased by 15% to reach seven million tons as that of the Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO group) grew by 60% to hit 2.83 million during the period under review, IRNA reported.

Iron ore pellets are spheres of typically 6–16 mm to be used as raw material for blast furnaces. They typically contain 64%-72% Fe and various additional material adjusting the chemical composition and the metallurgic properties of the pellets, according to Financial Tribune.
