EghtesadOnline: Tehran Urban and Suburban Railway Operation Company is trying to adjust the expanding subway system to make it more friendly to the disabled.
Entrance gates, elevators, and escalators are to be renovated to meet the needs of disabled people, the company said on its website, metro.tehran.ir.
The plan entails offering wheelchair access and services to those with impaired vision or hearing.
Tehran subway comprises seven lines (Lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7) with nearly 100 stations. Lines 6 and 7 are yet to be completed, according to Financial Tribune.
An estimated four million people use the subway network every day, and according to Tehran Municipality, the number is expected to climb by 25% after the launch of lines 6 and 7.
