IKCO to Deliver Presold Peugeot 2008 SUVs
EghtesadOnline: Extending apologies for the prolonged delay in the delivery of presold units of the SUV model Peugeot 2008, Iran Khodro, the local partner of the French automotive company, has announced that all presold cars will be delivered in due course. The vehicles were to be made through collaborations between PSA Groups Peugeot brand and IKCO through a joint venture named IKAP.
However, after US President Donald Trump’s decision to pull Washington out of the landmark nuclear deal and reimpose sanctions against Tehran, PSA announced that it would suspend its operations in the country.
The news triggered widespread unease among car buyers that IKCO will not be able to deliver the presold Peugeot 2008s or might offer another model in its place, reported local automotive website Donyaye Khodro. In response to anxious customers, IKCO has issued a statement reading that the presold Peugeot 2008s will be delivered. Up to now, IKAP has delivered over 5,000 Peugeot 2008s to car enthusiasts. By March, the company had presold 16,000 vehicles to Iranian customers.
During the first four months of the current fiscal which started in March, 2,956 units of Peugeot 2008 were manufactured in Iran. Peugeot is a popular brand among the Iranians. Vehicles carrying the emblem of Peugeot have a 29% share of the cars rolling out of Iranian carmakers factories, Financial Tribune reported.
