Sports Facilities Increase by 8%
EghtesadOnline: According a recent report by the Statistical Center of Iran, a total of 6.6% of sports venues in the country were owned by the private sector in the fiscal 2015-16, marking an increase of 1.9% compared to four years before.
The sports venues were spread over 60 million square meters during the year under review, indicating a 6.4% increase compared with the fiscal 2011-12. In March 2015-16, the number of sports facilities had risen by 8% to reach 22,868 compared with four years before.
There were 0.75 square meters of sports venue area per person in 2011-12, rising to 0.76 square meters in 2015-16.
The average sports venue area per person in developed countries stands at 2 square meters, according to Financial Tribune.
