EghtesadOnline: Truck traffic has shifted to Dogharoun near Taibad in eastern Khorasan Razavi Province since a month ago, due to lack of security at Afghanistan’s Milak border crossing with Iran.
This was announced by Javad Vahdatifard, deputy head of Khorasan Razavi Road Maintenance and Transportation Directorate, on Tuesday, IRNA reported.
“Despite repeated appeals to Afghan authorities by Iran to accelerate the customs process, their inspection and checking capacities have remained unchanged. About 220 trucks cross Dogharoun border terminal daily while, as we speak, up to 600 trucks handling export and transit are waiting to enter the Afghan soil,” he said.
Dogharoun, with a history of more than 100 years, is one of the oldest border crossings of Iran. It sits across Islam Qal’eh Customs Office in Afghanistan’s Herat Province, according to Financial Tribune.
