EghtesadOnline: Trade between Iran and Georgia last year stood at around $181 million, which indicates a 28% rise year-on-year.

This was announced by Georgia’s First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsishvili in a meeting with Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi on Monday. Kumsishvili said once the transport corridor connecting Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia becomes operational, multilateral trade among these countries will significantly increase, the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.  The Georgian minister added that at present, there are 31 flights per week between Georgia and Iran. “We are willing to triple this amount for summer. Last year, around 366,000 Iranians travelled to Georgia. Some 100,000 Iranian tourists have visited Georgian cities so far this year,” he said. Heading a delegation, Kumsishvili arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a two-day visit to survey ways of expanding bilateral cooperation with Iranian officials, Financial Tribune reported.
