EghtesadOnline: Local tire producer Barez Industrial Group will supply the French carmaker Renault with tires for its vehicles produced/assembled in Iran, the company’s deputy marketing manager said.
“A deal has been signed between Barez and Renault. Our tires will be used in cars produced/assembled under the French company’s brand in Iran,” Maziar Roghani said, local automotive website Donyaye Khodro reported
Renault signed a €660-million trilateral production deal with the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization and a local private company Negin Khodro in August, under which three models namely the Kwid, Duster and Symbol will be produced in Iran.
Iran Khodro and Pars Khodro have been assembling Renault’s Logan (locally better known as L90 or Tondar 90) for a decade, according to Financial Tribune.
Roghani says, “As per the Renault-Barez deal, henceforth Iran Khodro and Pars Khodro are required to use Barez tires in the Logans.”
According to Roghani, Barez is trying to expand its market by claiming a share in foreign automotive JVs. He says talks are being held between Barez, IKCO and its French partner Peugeot — the two have a joint production deal. Roghani says Barez tires can be used in the two cars assembled under the Peugeot-IKCO deal, namely the 2008 and 301 models.”
Barez tires have been sent to France by Peugeot to be tested.
