EghtesadOnline: About $1.34 billion worth of non-oil commodities were exported from East Azarbaijan Province to 101 countries during the eight months to Nov. 22, registering a 9% rise compared with last year’s corresponding period.
According to Chairman of East Azarbaijan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization Hossein Nejati, industrial, agro and petrochemical products, chemicals, metals, stones and minerals, carpets and handicrafts were the main goods exported from the northwestern Iranian province, IRNA reported. The main export destinations included Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Pakistan, Italy and Bulgaria. Notably, chemical and petrochemical exports had a staggering 103% year-on-year jump. The main reason behind this rise, according to Nejati, was the addition of new export destinations, namely South Korea, China, France, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Imports into East Azarbaijan during the same period saw a 7% decline YOY, according to Financial Tribune.
