EghtesadOnline: The goods and services Consumer Price Index for urban areas in the 12-month period ending August 22, which marks the end of the Iranian month of Mordad, increased 7.7% compared with last year’s corresponding period, the Statistical Center of Iran said in its latest report.

The center had reported a 7.6% urban inflation for the preceding Iranian month.  The overall rural CPI (using 2011 as the base year) stood at 249.6 in Mordad, indicating a 0.6% growth compared with the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 8.1% compared with last year’s similar month. The Central Bank of Iran, another body that publishes periodic reports on Iran’s macroeconomic data, has been putting the inflation above 10% since Khordad–the Iranian month ending June 21. The bank has yet to release its Mordad report, according to Financial Tribune.
