EghtesadOnline: The government has considered close to 33 trillion rials ($865.5 million) in budget to modernize irrigation systems in Iran’s farms and orchards in the current fiscal year (started March 21), of which 5 trillion rials ($131.1 million) have been allocated so far, Deputy Agriculture Minister Ali Morad Akbari said on Monday.

The plan, he added, is to carry out the project over 300,000 hectares of farmland and orchards by the end of the year.

Akbari noted that modern irrigation systems have been installed across 40,000 hectares, Mehr News Agency reported.
