EghtesadOnline: Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati held talks on boosting cooperation with his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Xuan Cuong, in Tehran on Saturday.

The Iranian minister said the two countries hold considerable potentials in the agriculture sector and are capable of becoming partners in trading agricultural products and seafood.

Referring to the annual consumption of 2.2 million tons of rice in Iran, Hojjati said imports from Vietnam can meet Iran’s 800,000-ton deficit in rice production, Mehr News Agency reported.

“Sturgeon, trout, salmon and other types of fish produced in Iran are popular with Vietnamese and we are ready to supply our seafood from Iran,” Financial Tribune quoted the Vietnamese minister of agriculture and rural development as saying.
