EghtesadOnline: Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Co-chairman of Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Commission, referring to the preferential trade already existed between the two countries, said on Sunday that both nations are trying to engage in free trade.

Mahmoud Vaezi made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Economy Minister and co-chairman of the Commission Nihat Zeybekci.

Iran and Turkey agreed on changing the preferential trade agreement signed in 2015 into a free trade one in the near future, he said.

According to IRNA, Vaezi went on to say that Presidents of the both countries have emphasized enhancing the volume of economic exchanges to up to 30 billion dollars.

The 26th joint economic commission between Iran and Turkey is scheduled to be held in Tehran on September, he added.

The Governor of Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Murat Çetinkaya is supposed to take a trip to Tehran soon to explore development of banking ties between Iran and Turkey.
