EghtesadOnline: Sharif University of Technology and Iran Aseman Airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding on making joint investment in aviation technologies.

According to the university’s website, a collaboration deal will be signed soon under which Sharif will design and produce airplane parts for the company, conduct tests and hold short courses in aviation technologies for its employees.

Asman will offer funds and grants to Sharif students and professors working in the field of aviation technologies. It will also offer internship to Sharif students.

The deal was signed between Aseman Airline CEO Hossein Alaei (L) and Mohammad Reza Movahedi of Sharif’s Department of Mechanical Engineering in Tehran on Dec. 18, Financial Tribune reported.

In recent years, Sharif has spearheaded efforts to commercialize scientific findings and transform scientific ideas into industrial solutions. The university has forged several deals with different companies and is conducting research on their behalf.

Officialdom, respected experts, academia and observers have often called on local universities to establish their own sources of revenue. And Sharif has been the most active academic body in moving toward economic self-reliance and wealth generation.

The university has made significant moves in the information and communications technology sector and hundreds of startups are currently supported by its incubators and accelerators.
