EghtesadOnline: The 14th international ASIALICS conference will be held in Tehran, August 30-31, at Shahid Beheshti University, where scientific exploration and technological development will be key areas of discussion.
ASIALICS (Asia learning, innovation and competence building systems), is to explore and develop the concept of learning, innovation and competence building systems as an analytical framework. It also seeks to help promote knowledge-based strategies and economic development in Asia.
It links scholars, practitioners and policymakers, according to the website of the event asialics2017.iramot.ir.
Submission of entries is June 8, and Iranian academics and scientific institutions have been urged to bring their latest developments to the platform, according to Financial Tribune.
The idea is to provide a forum for development in Asian countries and companies and to share experience regarding methodology, analytical results and policies.
At the Tehran conference, new modes of technological learning and innovation within the context of international collaboration will be explored, the website states.
This year’s focus is to boost “cooperation between West Asia and East Asia,” as a means to develop new joint scientific projects. The experience of East Asia in successful technological learning needs to be replicated in West Asia, although there are substantial differences between the two regions.
ASIALICS conference theme is “technological learning, innovation and catching-up in the context of international collaboration.”
It will explore the role of finance, intellectual property rights, foreign direct investment, standardization as well as industrial policies.
Discussions at the forum may reveal the general bottlenecks that may impose substantial barriers in the way of learning and ‘catching-up’ organizers state.
Comparative studies would also be very interesting in order to reveal the similarities and differences between the context of West-Asia and other regions.
“We encourage participants to use any possible sources to conduct comparative studies,” a statement from the organizers said.
Keynote lectures will be given by Bengt-Ake Lundvall from Aalborg University, Denmark and Abdelkader Djeflat from Université des Sciences et Technologies de Lille in France.
Vice-Presidency of Science and technology, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Technology Studies Institute and National Research Institute for Science Policy are sponsors of the event.
