EghtesadOnline: Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Monday called on European countries to play their historic role to discourage the US from breach of the nuclear deal struck by Group 5+1.

Qassemi made the remarks in his weekly press briefing.

'We naturally expect the European countries, particularly those involved in clinching a nuclear deal with Iran last year, to stand by Iran to implement the JCPOA. We hope that the Europe will play its historic role and show that they are reliable in light of the European values,' the spokesman said.

Iranian officials held negotiations with their Chinese counterparts on Sunday, Qasemi said, noting that Beijing took clear and positive stands about the nuclear deal, according to IRNA.

He said that US breach of commitments to Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action will disappoint the Iranian nation about reliability of the western governments including the United States and convince them that Iran has to steer clear of the western governments in the region and the global scene.
