He made the remarks in a meeting with Azerbaijan Republic Ambassador to Iran Bonyad Hosseinov, IRNA reported.

Amir-Abdollahian underlined the role of parliaments to upgrade relations between the two countries.

Parliaments can play a crucial role as supporter and facilitator of bilateral political, economic and cultural relations, he said.

Establishment of stability and security in the region is the Iranian foreign policy principle, he said, noting that continuation of parliamentary dialogue and consultations with Azerbaijan Republic and other regional states will contribute a lot to regional peace and security.

Amir Abdollahian further pointed out that given the regional developments, regional states should consider realities.

Hosseinov said for his part that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Azeri Republic have longstanding diplomatic and cultural relations and that they serve as a strong backing to promote bilateral relations.

Expressing pleasure with the growing trend of economic relations, the envoy said that completion and commissioning of joint economic projects will help further augment trade and commerce.
