EghtesadOnline: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida in separate messages on Sunday congratulated victory of Hassan Rouhani in the 12th presidential elections in Iran.
“As the Japanese government and people’s representative, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the reelected Iranian President,” Abe said in his message.
Referring to his previous meeting with President Rouhani, Abe underscored that Iran plays a pivotal role in the Middle East.
According to IRNA, he also expressed hope Iran would play more central role in bringing peace to the Middle East.
Abe also called for reinforcement of all-out ties between the two countries.
Kishida, for his part, hailed role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in maintaining peace in the region and called for expansion of bilateral ties between the two nations.
