EghtesadOnline: Iran always considers the Palestine issue on top of all issues of the Islamic World, said Iranian president Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with the chairman of the Palestinian National Council, Salim Zanoun.
At the meeting that was held on Wednesday in Tehran, Rouhani added: "the people of Iran have paid heavy price supporting the Palestinian nation and opposing the Zionist Regime but is still determined to continue its support".
Praising the Palestinian nation's resistance and steadfastness in the 70 years of oppression from the side of the Zionist regime, Rouhani said: "we believe that the Islamic World must stand up for the rights of the Palestinian nation and it is its responsibility to pay the price".
On the 6th international conference in support of the Palestinian Intifada, he added: "any move aimed at standing for the rights of Muslim people, on top of them the Palestinians, is very important for us".
"Although there is a very hard path ahead of all Muslims in defending the rights of Palestine, a nation that has chosen Jihad to defend its rights will be victorious," ISNA quoted Rouhani as saying.
At the same meeting, the chairman of the Palestinian National Council, Salim Zanoun also congratulated the successful holding of the 6th international conference in support of the Palestinian Intifada and appreciated Iran's support of the Palestinians and their cause.
He said: "we need to stand together and not let any issue undermine the main issue, which is Palestine's freedom and confronting criminal actions of the Zionist Regime".
The stances and viewpoints of the participants of the conference in supporting the people of Palestine are very encouraging and promising, said Zanoun adding: "the spirit of resistance and intifada is alive in Quds and Gaza and our unity with Iran is very powerful".
