EghtesadOnline: Iran's outgoing Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Reza Rauf Sheibani on Sunday held a meeting with President Bashar al-Assad at the end of his mission to Damascus.
Sheibani also met with Syrian Prime Minister Imad Mohammad Deeb Khamis last Thursday, reports IRNA.
In the meeting which the Syrian ministers of oil, economy and secretary-general of prime minister's office were present, the prime minister appreciated efforts of Iranian ambassador to promote ties during his mission.
Regarding operations of the terrorist and Takfiri groups in the region, especially in Syria, Khamis said that Iran always stands by the independent states and is on the frontline of fight against terrorist groups.
Given strategic cooperation between Iran and Syria, Sheibani underlined Iran's support for Syria in confrontation against terrorism.
Sheibani's tenure ends this weekend, but, Iranian Foreign Ministry has not named his successor yet.
