EghtesadOnline: President Hassan Rouhani and his Vietnamese counterpart Trần Đại Quang on Thursday agreed to raise the value of transactions between the two capitals to more than two billion dollars.
Addressing a joint press conference after their bilateral meeting, President Rouhani said the two presidents also agreed that the Iranian and Vietnamese central banks sign a deal for promotion of banking relations.
He said the two sides would defend each other’s stances at the international forums like they did in the past, reports IRNA.
President Rouhani also hoped that his three-day visit to Vietnam will be a turning point for Tehran-Hanoi relations.
“Both sides oppose war, violence and terrorism and believe that negotiations and mutual understanding are the only solution to resolve problems,” said the President.
Noting that Iran and Vietnam enjoy “very close” stances on certain key international issues, he stressed that “Tehran and Hanoi are seeking peace and stability for the Middle East and East Asia regions.”
President Rouhani said that Vietnamese are “a strong nation who opposes foreign aggression, favors independence, supports developments and is hardworking.”
“Both sides believed that there are very extensive grounds for bilateral economic and commercial relations, especially in the field of investment, and their economies can be complementary to each other,” said the President.
He added that there is “a very good opportunity available” in the field of energy for export of oil, LNG and petrochemicals from Iran to Vietnam and Vietnamese companies are ready to invest in the Iranian oil and gas projects.
President Rouhani added that Iran, too, is ready to export construction materials like steel, stones and gypsum to Vietnam.
He also voiced Tehran’s readiness for overseas farming as both capitals are ready for cooperating in the farming and fisheries fields.
The president also called for mutual cooperation in tourism, parliamentary domain, exchange of professors and students, technology, water transfer, road and highway construction, technical and engineering services, culture and modern industries.
