EghtesadOnline: Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati said in this northwestern Chinese city on Tuesday that the international community should tackle extremism and radicalism to restore peace and tranquility.

Jannati made the remarks the first Silk Road International Cultural Expo in China in presence of several culture ministers and senior officials of several Silk Road littoral countries.

Touching upon the latest scientific and technical progress made across the globe, the minister said that so far the international peace has not been achieved owing to totalitarianism and extremism fanning the flames of conflicts across the globe, reports IRNA.

Commenting on the “One Belt, One Road” plan initiated with the Chinese President Xi Jinping, Jannati said that the scheme would play a pivotal role in fostering economical and cultural transactions among the Silk Road littoral states.

Iranian minister reiterated that the plan would prepare the ground for a better understanding of people from each other and getting rid of extremism and violence across the world.

Jannati arrived in China on September 19 to attend the first Silk Road International Cultural Expo.

The Iranian culture minister is visiting China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart.

Many cultural experts see the first Silk Road International Cultural Expo as a professional convention in the area of culture.

The two-day cultural expo is currently underway in the city of Dunhuang, with participation of senior cultural officials, ministers of culture and cultural experts from different Silk Road littoral countries.

The Silk Road or Silk Route is an ancient network of trade routes that were central to cultural interaction through regions of Asia connecting the West and East.
