EghtesadOnline: Head of Iran’s Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute Hamid Kahran said that the country is among 10 countries which have managed to produce polio vaccine.
He said that the institute has started its activities over 9 decades ago after plague outbreak and has produced different vaccines for livestock and poultry so far, according to ISNA.
The official noted that producing vaccine needs a very complicated and advanced technology which has been obtained by the institute.
He said that out of nine medical vaccines used in Iran 7 of which are produced in the institute, for some of which weakened virus and for others live virus is used.
Polio vaccine produced by the institute has created high level of immunity and there has not been even one case of the disease in Iran over last 16 years.
