EghtesadOnline: Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office for Political Affairs Hamid Aboutalebi said the Islamic Republic of Iran considers supporting democratic institutions which arise from elections as one of its main principles.

Aboutalebi wrote in his twitter post 'the Muslim people of our neighboring country, Turkey, would retake their sovereignty'.

'We have never been indifferent towards coup and violating the sovereignty of people, and we are following up Turkey's developments sensitively and we consider the people vote as decisive,' said the official.

According to IRNA, some units of Turkish military, in a failed attempt on Friday night, tried to topple the government of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. According to Turkey's Ministry of Justice around 60 people have been killed and many have been arrested in the coup attempt.
