EghtesadOnline: An Iranian young researcher designed and has made conductor, transparent and flexible polymer films with optoelectronic applications which can save million dollars to be saved.
Iranian PhD student of polymer engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology Hamidreza Heidar Nejad has been working for 3 years on making conductor, transparent and flexible polymer films with optoelectronic applications.
Using raw materials and new and simple methods, Heidar Nejad was able to make the laboratory sample of the product.
He told IRNA that increasing development of flexible optoelectronic devices like solar cells and touch screens has made the need for conductor, transparent and flexible polymer films a necessity.
He added that common materials used in solar pipes and in touch screens is indium tin oxide (ITO) which is used as a transparent and conductor cover but due to being expensive and rare, it is not affordable to be used in large quantities.
He reiterated that the inherent fragility of ITO is regarded as a limitation so researchers decided to find an alternative for that.
On the plan's innovations, he added that in addition to using new materials instead of ITO, photo polymerization method was used for the first time in the world.
Owing to the fact that most of the raw materials used in these films are produced domestically and Iran is capable of synthesizing it, a good capacity has been created to make polymer films with optoelectronic applications.
