EghtesadOnline: A senior Pakistani analyst believes Iran’s nuclear agreement with P5+1 is not only beneficial to the West, Iran and all of its economic and trade partners from economic point of view, but also helped strengthening regional stability.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known commonly as the Iran-P5+1 nuclear deal, was signed in Vienna on 14 July 2015.
In an interview with IRNA, Dr Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Professor of International Relations and Politics in Quaid-e-Azam University (Islamabad) added thant the nuclear agreement broke the deadlock between Iran and western countries, opened the doors of trust between them and developed a precious connectivity between Iran and the Wester states.
Pointing to regular visits by leaders and top political and economic delegations of different European, Asian and African countries to Iran, the analyst said the visits prove that the deal is moving on the right track although still there are some issues need to be solved.
“The deal also once again brought Iran into main stream and after the deal one can see Iran is playing a constructive role to bring regional stability, no doubt about that the deal is very vital for the regional stability and Iran’s economic prosperity,” noted the scholar.
To a question, the expert said in modern era no issue has been settled without dialogue and the use of military makes things more complex so dialogue is the only way to solve conflicts. “Iran, P5+1 agreement is the outcome of dialogue, so it can become a precedent in resolving other issues in the world,” he pointed out.
The analyst opined that relation of Iran and Pakistan is multidimensional and multifaceted but both countries need to increase level of engagement. “Iran can get the benefit from CPEC and Pakistan can be benefited from Chabahar agreement,” he viewed.
Jaspal said, 'Iran, P5+1 deal has been quite successful because many positive things are happening after the deal. “As there has been lack of confidence for a long time between Iran and the West, so one cannot expect that all sanctions would immediately end. Some time is needed for full implementation of JCPOA ,” he said.
